Welcome#

Let’s start with the textbook definition:

Agnotology is:#

the process of intentionally creating or encouraging doubt or ignorance (= lack of knowledge), for example by spreading false information, in order to influence opinionsell a product, or gain an advantage, or the study of this process

The tactics used by the tobacco industry to obscure the facts of the health effects of smoking are a perfect example of agnotology.

Agnotology, or the study of ignorance, can be seen as a field of philosophy.

Publishing is opt-in: a note appears on the site only if its front matter says publish: true. Everything else stays private, including Half-baked idea, which is deliberately unpublished — the sync script will warn about this link rather than emit a dead one.

One direction only

The sync script reads the vault and writes site/content/docs/. It never writes back, so nothing Hugo does can corrupt your notes.

Read How this works next, or skim the cheatsheet for what survives the conversion.
